Congratulations to Roger Zare
Mystic Chamber Music Series is thrilled to announce Roger Zare as the winner of our Call for Scores competition for his chamber work, Gamma.
Inspired by a mathematical constant first discovered by Leonhard Euler, Gamma reflects Zare's signature approach of drawing from science and mathematics to create music of striking clarity and depth. The New York Times has praised Zare for his "enviable grasp of orchestration" and music of "formal clarity and an alluringly mercurial surface."
An award-winning Chinese-American composer, Zare holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of Michigan and degrees from the Peabody Conservatory and the University of Southern California. He currently serves as an assistant professor of music at Appalachian State University.
We look forward to bringing Gamma to audiences in southeastern Connecticut and Rhode Island on the final concert of our season with the Terra String Quartet.
